There are two public courses, one course (Los Lagos) running at 6,500 yards and the other (Mesa Linda) at 5,600. These courses are considered to be two of the premiere public courses in the county due to their well maintained greens and fairways, and of course, their “just right” difficulty.

Lake Forest Golf and Practice Center

Lake Forest features a 9-hole executive par 29 course that is situated among orange groves just west of the Saddle Back Mountains. Newport Beach Golf Course

Newport Beach Golf Course is an 18 hole executive golf course. The front nine features two par fours and seven par threes. The 291 yard 4th hole is the number one handicap hole. The back nine is the more challenging of the two sides. It features three par fours and six par threes. Two of the par threes on the back side are over 200 yards, including the 18th hole. The practice facility features a full driving range, a putting green, and a chipping green.

Oak Creek Golf Club

Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course

Set along a coastal inlet with three different lakes as a backdrop, it is home to some of South Orange County’s finest and most challenging greens. Designed by William Francis Bell, Rancho San Joaquin opened in 1964, and has a newly remodeled clubhouse. The course is welcoming for new golfers while still offering a good challenge for more experienced players.

River View Golf Course

An 18-hole course featuring 6,190 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. Several of the golf holes play adjacent to or across the seasonal Santa Ana River as it winds its way from the mountains of Southern California to the Pacific Ocean. San Clemente Municipal Golf Club

Owned and operated by the City of San Clemente, this scenic, family friendly championship 18-hole golf course is located approximately one mile from the Pacific Ocean and features ocean views from a number of holes. The golf course boasts sweeping ocean views, interesting elevation changes, a challenging yet fun layout reminiscent of the golden age of golf, and best of all, reasonable green fees. 

San Juan Hills Golf Club

Strawberry Farms Golf Club

Tustin Ranch Golf Club

A signature Ted Robinson designed golf course that features 18 holes and a challenging 6,842-yard course. The 18th hole features Two giant eucalyptus trees to provide definition and occasionally knock down drives leaving long second shots. The green is protected in front and left by water and is three tiers deep, sometimes leaving very long putts.

Big Canyon Country Club

Big Canyon Country Club is a private, member-owned club, where generations of families and their friends gather and cherished memories are made. The course was designed by Robert Muir Graves and features beautiful landscaping and a number of water hazards in play. The course gently rolls up, down and around within the canyon. Most holes feature a dogleg one way or the other, with a pretty even distribution of fade- and draw-friendly designs.

Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club

Coto de Caza Golf features 36 holes and two Robert Trent Jones Jr. championship layouts. The North course, a 7,162-yard gem, boasts two of the 18 best holes of golf in Orange County. The South course, a slightly shorter 6,950 yards, treats Members and guests to a golf course where players head south through the Coto canyon without seeing any other golf holes except the one they’re playing.

El Niguel Country Club

Shady Canyon Golf Club

The Tom Fazio-designed course winds through the canyon, around the bends, and folds of the hills, following the natural change of elevation, passing rock outcroppings, stands of sycamores and creek beds.
